37th Annual Tucson Celtic Festival & Scottish Highland Games

Please join us November 4th and 5th, 2023, for the 37th Annual Tucson Celtic Festival & Scottish Highland Games at Rillito Raceway Park located at 4502 N. First Ave, Tucson, AZ 85718. 

Early bird registration is $35 for Mens and Womens athletes and $30 per Junior and ends June 1, 2023. Between June 2nd and October 1st, registration is $40 for Mens and Womens and $35 for Juniors. Field registration is at the discretion of the Athletic Director and is $45 and $40 respectively. Registration includes entry for the athlete and one guest on the day of competition and lunch for the athlete. Registration is non-refundable.

Notes:

  • Classes will be limited to 12 athletes in each group.
  • Applications received on or before October 1st will be guaranteed a games shirt.
  • If by October 1st fewer than four applications are received for a given class, the competition slot for that class will be eliminated and athletes will be combined with another class to throw with.
  • Applications may be accepted after October 1st (including field registration) on a space available basis as determined by the Athletic Director.
  • Only TCFA implements will be used for competition.
  • Sheaf starting height will be a minimum of 10 feet.

 

Event Information:
Competition will consist of the following nine events:: Open Stone, Braemar Stone, Heavy & Light Hammers, Heavy & Light Weight for Distance (WFD), Caber, Weight Over Bar (WOB), Sheaf

  • Athletes must participate in all events to qualify for the awards
  • Ties will be broken by number of 1st, 2nd, etc. in individual events. If still tied, Caber scrore will determine placement.

 

Rules:
Competition is conducted in accordance with the Rules and straight & winged trigs will be used

  • All athletes must wear a shirt and kilt during competition. Undergarments must be worn.
  • Winged throwing area used for stones and WFD.
  • Check-in and weight-in time for all athletes begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Heavy Events field tent and will close promptly at 8:00 a.m.
  • Competition starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. Athlete meeting is at 8:45 a.m.
  • Weigh-ins are the day of the competition ONLY between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Tucson Celtic Festival & Scottish Highland Games HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT The individual/clan/society/organization/business named in this form hereby agrees for itself, its successors and assignees, to indemnify and hold harmless the Tucson Celtic Festival Association, Inc. (TCFA) and/or Rillito Racetrack, the City of Tucson, or Pima County from all claims, lawsuits or any other action for personal injuries, including death, and damages to property, real or personal, caused by individual/clan/society/organization/business, and/or acts or omissions of TCFA and/or Rillito Racetrack/City of Tucson/Pima County, arising out of your individual/clan/society/organization/business involvement in the Tucson Celtic Festival and Scottish Highland Games, and from all judgments and costs incurred in relation to said claims and lawsuits, and from all expenses incurred in defending said claims or lawsuits. The individual/clan/society/organization/business named herein hereby releases TCFA and/or Rillito Racetrack/City of Tucson/Pima County, all Sponsors and Officials, including their agents and employees, from liability, from any claim it might otherwise have for participating in the Tucson Celtic Festival and Scottish Highland Games, including, but not limited to, any claim for personal injury or physical impairment or other claim of any type, arising out of participation or involvement in this event. The individual/clan/society/organization/business named herein also agrees to indemnify and hold harmless those released above from any such claims, damages, losses and expenses, including attorney’s fees and all court costs. All Attendees, Vendors, Guests, Volunteers & Performers hereby acknowledge and agree that ANY PERSONAL PROPERTY brought to this event is done so at their own risk. TCFA does not and will not assume any responsibility whatsoever for loss or damage of ANY PERSONAL PROPERTY of any kind under any circumstances. PUBLICITY RELEASE The undersigned hereby gives consent to the Tucson Celtic Festival Association and assignees to take photographs, make audio recordings/and or videos of myself and/or my organization at the Tucson Celtic Festival and Scottish Highland Games and to use such photographs and/or videos for such promotion, publicity and other lawful purposes as the Tucson Celtic Festival. Association deems appropriate. I/we further waive any rights or claims as to content approval, remunerations or damages that I/we may have for those reproductions. SAFETY AND SITE RULES/POLICIES 1. NO firearms, drugs, or alcoholic beverages from outside are permitted at the Festival site, Rillito Racetrack. Firearms for Historic Reenactment performance groups are exempt. 2. NO vehicles are allowed on the field for any reason. 3. NO animals/pets allowed. Service animals are exempt. 4. ALL entrants to the Festival site must possess proper admission ticket or be escorted to the gate to purchase one.
